The Twelve Apostles

Australia has some amazing scenery and the Twelve Apostles would be one of the most spectacular. This is my first destination on my trip around the world and I am so excited that I am at the Twelve Apostles. I arrived in Port Campbell and headed straight out to see the Twelve Apostles at sunset. It is fascinating to see the giant stacks of rocks rising out of the Southern Ocean and knowing how they came about. Apparently they were once part of the coast but the sea eroded the land around it so all that is left are the tall rock formations. They are 10-20 million years old. I was almost blown away with the wind and it was raining and cold. There weren’t many trees because they would get blown away.
There were many tourists there (even though it was raining) to see this spectacular sight, I guess if you went all the way to the bottom of Australia you wouldn’t want to miss it. They had lots of friendly tour guides that would show you around (I was lucky enough to get a helicopter ride over the rock formations). There are a lot of tracks for walking, and some great lookouts where you can take photographs of the Twelve Apostles.
