The North Pole, Alaska

I am in Alaska on my way around the world. I am almost frozen it is so cold! I am wearing so many layers it is not funny. The temperature is mostly always below freezing. I went on a hike and there was white snow everywhere. The landscape is mostly mountains, valleys and ice glaciers. I haven’t seen a penguin yet because unlike Antarctica the arctic does not have any penguins.
People have lived in the North Pole for thousands of years. Many scientists from all over the world go to Alaska to research here about how global warming is affecting the temperature of the North Pole. Alaska also attracts many tourists wanting to come see the home of Santa Claus.
